Auto Theft Prevention/2002 HONDA ACCORD SE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM MALFUNCTION

Question
I noticed a few postings about the malfunction of the anti theft system on Honda Accords. My alarm has been going off sporadically for a few months now. Mostly at night, but no real pattern. Honking non-stop, lights flashing. It stops when I hit the remote lock or when I start the car. I brought it into the Honda dealer today and they replaced the hood switch/latch assembly. Do you think that this is really the reason why the alarm was going off? They also mentioned some kind of a sensor under the hood but they didn't elaborate on it. They told me that there is no way to disengage the alarm since it's integraded into the car by the factory.

Answer
Sure. The factory system depends on verifiable entry point
monitoring (current sensing).

If a hood pin is bad, it WILL set it off.
So will door triggers (dome light in this car)
or, trunk pin/light being on, or corroded fore instance,
will too.

They did what I would have.

Hopefully, it was correct.
You'll know soon enough, right?

Good luck.
