Auto Theft Prevention/Ford 2004 Explorer Intermittent Starting

Question
Similar to another question you answered, I have a 2004 Ford Explorer that recently began to start intermittently. I had a shop run a diagnosis and their test system indicates the Ford "could not recognize the key". Tried a second key and it worked a couple times, but not always. Looks more like the antitheft system cannot reliably recognize either key. Is this bypassed with the Directed 555P bypass kit, as you mentioned with the 2001 Explorer? Any idea as to what Ford charges for diagnosis/repair of these things? Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Answer
Ford will NOT be cheap, and will not install a bypass.
They're interest is to repair and replace. This work
should be done at a local car alarm shop.

The 555P is for remote starting. Doubtful it will apply here.
These modules ALL need to have the 2 programmed keys to
be able to be programmed themselves, and the IM04 bypass is
likely to be the only one that would work here since it can
be "rigged" to do what you are attempting.

Good luck.
