Auto Theft Prevention/Passkey III bypassing
Expert: INSTALLSUPPORT - 12/19/2008
QuestionOn a 2000 Chevy Venture Appeared to have gotten soap in ignition now when you turn the key(tried two deferent keys) on the security light comes on when you try to crank the engine everything goes off Except service engine light battery is good Tried crossing the solenoid on starter acted as if it was not getting fuel can the passkey III system be bypassed completely
AnswerOk, The GM PASSLOCK/PASSKEY III in this car has engaged.
It shut's down the fuel rail and needs to
be reset at GM.
You can attempt to put the key in the ignition,
turn it on to just before cranking and then leaving
it that way for 10 mins. After that,
some PASSLOCK/PASSKEY systems will re learn the code
and allow for starting. But if not, the system
will either need to be seen by GM.
But if it DOES start after that, here's the fun part.
Once done though...
The happy accident with this car is that there is a bypass kit
that can take the PASSKEY and render it inert.
The IM06- Immobilizer bypass -
IM06- Immobilizer bypass programmable Immobilizer
Data Override Interface preloaded with upgradeable firmware (PKG7).
Compatible with GM Hybrid Passlock Passkey immobilizer
systems like that used on 2004-07 Chevrolet Malibu's.
IM06- Immobilizer bypass permanantly overrides the factory
immobilizer when programmed, and grounded to the frame.
The catch 22 here is the module MUST see an RPM rate from
the started engine, to program.
This works 95% of the time for ALL GM vehicles, and disables the
PASSLOCK/PASSKEY issue alltogether. Like it was NEVER there.
But remember, the PASSLOCK/PASSKEY system is not allowing start
of the engine, just cranking, I can't give you a guaranty
that it will work. But, as long as you can start the engine now,
even intermittently, long enough to program the bypass module
(at least running for 2 minutes), it should do the trick.
Please keep in mind that GM has NO interest in bypassing
your PASSLOCK/PASSKEY since there's no money in it for them that way.
So they have customers constantly in the shop "fixing" this issue.
It's a neat little "restricted to US only" service job for GM,
since they are usually the only one who can reset/repair
or replace the PASSLOCK/PASSKEY systems in they're cars and trucks.
It is the best/cheaper method if indeed it's a standard factory OEM
PASSLOCK/PASSKEY system. GM's service dept. will charge between 260. & 700.
depending on how they will have to go about "FIXING" it.
If it's me, I'd try it.

Just know there is no return policy on this item. I can not re sell it,
so please be sure the engine will start prior to purchase. :>(
I hope this helped.
