Expert: INSTALLSUPPORT - 3/26/2008

Question
Someone attempted to steal my truck by punching the doorlock and then
breaking the ignition.  It looks like they tried to turn the ignition with a
screwdriver and channel locks.  It was parked about 50' from my window and
I would think I would hear the alarm go off.  Is it possible that someone
could have disabled the alarm?  Everything is factory original.  I had the truck
towed to the dealer, anything else I should have them look for?

Well, this truck has the PASSLOCK II fuel
injector cut off system, so steeling it that way will
not work. Most punk thieves have no idea of that,
and mess up GM cars and trucks all the time. :>(

As far as the noise generating-head light flashing,
laughable "factory alarm" system, it's a 60/40 shot that it
will trigger at all, so yell at GM on that one. It's
always been sub standard. But disabling the alarm?
Unlikely. It sounds like it simply did not trigger here.
Disabling it would take WAY too long, and in this case,
did not seem to be needed to access the vehicle.

But here's the bad news (as if that was'nt enough!).
The PASSLOCK II repair will be pricey, so shop that first.
If destroyed, this could run several hundred dollars
for replacement, reprogramming and repair.

Wish I had better news for you. Time for an after market
theft deterrent, with a very loud siren!
