Question
QUESTION: Hi i have a 2000 Ford Taurus and the anti theft system keeps beeping on and off and it doesn't allow my car to start. how can i fix this without going to the body shop and how can i start my car? if i have to take it in, how much would it cost me to get it fixed? i am trying to sell it right now and people come over to see it and it doesn't start.

ANSWER: I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: the wording that is flashing on and off is "THEFT" and its a factory alarm system. there is no noise or anything its just dead, it wont allow the car to start at all. i have the right keys and everything.

ANSWER: Not good.

Troublesome system, and not an uncommon issue
by a long shot.

Ok, unfortunately, this vehicle has the
FORD PATS key based engine disabling system,
and it's not recognizing the chip in your
key.

My expertise is in disabling
the PATS for remote start applications,
so if it's me, I would suggest the Directed 555P
bypass kit to get around the issue. (69.95)

This Bypass Module is designed to momentarilly
allow the engine to remote start by sending a proper
coded pulse to open the fuel rail passlock injector
cut off circuit.

The output from an alarm/remote starter
would then shut down the pulse, once it has detected
the engine has engaged, and preserve the integrity
of the PATS system.

That is it's designed purpose.

However, in your case, this input wire on
the 555P module, instead of going to a
momentary ground pulse from an
alarm/remote starter, would go to a
constant chassis ground, through
the bypass module, grounding out the PATS.
The PATS would always be bypassed as long
as that wire is chassis grounded.

I can not speak about a damaged PATS system,
like if a thief has destroyed it, because I do not
get into this part of FORD'S security application.
But as a happy coincidence to installing
after market remote starters, this does work on bypassing
trnasponder in most all FORD vehicles we've run into,
including your year FORD vehicle as well.

Also, this is a self learning, resistor sensing
and adjusting module. Once the PATS wires have been tapped,
you would press the program button to learn,
and it does. The car should then allow start
with any hardware store key.

It would work on this one too.

QUESTION: is there any other way? im a student and i cant afford to buy anything...is there any way i can just disable it?

Answer
Sorry you felt it nec. to post a harsh rating
for someone simply because you did not like the
VOLUNTEERED answer given. I can't help your being
a student, or being broke. Seems that's YOUR problem,
not mine.

My bad I guess.
Sometimes me being honest with my visitors
just does'nt pan out as I intend it to at times.
However, I will strive to do better the next time someone
asks me for free, volunteered help, but now may
just think twice about offering any assistance at
all if I am going to get a similar discouraging
rating as yours.

It makes me not want to do this anymore,
for anyone. I hope you find another answer
you do like, and it works out for you.
I however, won't offer anymore advice to you
since your don't care for the answers anyway.

Luck to you.
