Auto Theft Prevention/Are steering column locks worthwhile?

Question
QUESTION: My Ford F-250 was recently broken into and the ignition lock was badly damaged in an unsuccessful attempt to start it and drive it away.  I'm looking at mechanical ways to make my truck less likely to be stolen in the future.  I purchased a product called "jimmy jammer" to strengthen the door locks and now I'm looking into getting a steering column lock to protect the ignition switch.  They seem like a good idea, but I was wondering if they are just hype or truly worthwhile.  Do they really work or are they easily defeated?

ANSWER: A steel colar type device that fits over
the switch is a great deterent. A pain in the ass to
put on and off all the time, like the "club", but
sure, anything that slows down a would be thief
is worth the money if it indeed does what it says
it's supposed to do.

Go for it.

QUESTION: Thanks.  I think I'll go ahead and get it.  I'm paranoid now that I know there are people out there that want my truck.  I'm afraid to take it anywhere.  So how much further should I go in trying to protect it?   I'm not too keen on alarms since most people ignore them and I think they are easily defeated once the thief is able to get to it inside the truck.  I was thinking lojack but that will only serve to track it down after it's gone and it's pretty expensive.  The same with a GPS tracker.  What would you do?

Answer
A basic alarm with starter kill for around 60.00
for keyless entry convenience and noise
visual deterent, (www.CARALARMZ.com)
and the MARCUS 4 GPS Tracker. It runs 369.95 + 34.00
per month for real time position tracking, and remote shut down
capability. THIS my friend is security.
