Auto Theft Prevention/94 Mazda 929 will not start
Expert: INSTALLSUPPORT - 4/17/2008
QuestionQUESTION: I just bought a 929 and when I unlock the door with the key the alarm is triggered. The car will also not turn over. If I disconnect the battery for a spell with the doors unlocked I finally can get the car to start. I cannot figure out what is wrong with this car. I do not have a remote for it. The car sat for about 6 months before I bought it. Is there a way to bypass this system so that I can crank the stupid thing whenever I want to, and not just when it decides to? There is also not anything on the key that looks like a chip or anything. I have seen a lot of stuff about folks Mazdas being immobilized, I guess that is what is wrong here? What do I need to do about it?
ANSWER: Probably an add on after market system.
Ok, try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button, found under the dash area,
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes off, and the siren chirps twice.
(Your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type.
in this case, key on, flip switch in oposite direction,
key off.)
This should reset the alarm.
Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to valet mode.
That should do it.
If you want to remove it at this point,
take it to your neighborhood installer
for this, or buy the wiring chart for
the vehicle, and reverse engineer it wire
by wire, until it's safely removed.
If it does not work out this way, you will have
to replace the system with one you know how
to operate and what to expect.
Let me know what happens.

QUESTION: Ok, heres what I have so far. I checked the passenger side door lock and the key would not work. I removed the door panel and found that the rod as well as the plug was not attached to the lock cylinder. I checked the driver side just in case and the plug was also not on it but the rod was. This solved the problem of the alarm going off when I unlocked the car, but not my cranking problem. I checked the car over for a switch under the dash like you said, and found nothing. I do have a On/off switch in the console that I dont know what it goes to. Just for experimental purposes I followed the procedure you gave me and nothing happened with that switch. If the switch in question is bad could that be the problem? This seems to be a factory security system due to the light in the dash being factory and it says "security" with a key symbol in the middle. Maybe it is not the security system at all. I will remove the starter on Sat. and get it checked but what other avenues do you see I could check?
AnswerOk, yours is a "FACTORY" or, OEM
(original Equipment Manufacturer) "alarm/security" system,
then the disabling procedure info for any given
specific vehicle is now deamed to be too sensitive to
publish here (as suggested by ALLEXPERTS administration.!).
So, to comply, as of March,22 08, this service is no longer
part of the volunteer information I can offer for free here at
ALLEXPERTS.com . Specific OEM/FACTORY alarm disarm/disabling
info is now available ONLY at the WIREWERX.
My installation wiring charts provide the proper wire colors,
polarities, and locations to install a keyless entry,
remote start or, car alarm system into any given vehicle,
or if just trying to disarm/disable your factory/OEM system,
there is a link there to get a tutourial on how to do it yourself
for only $2.99.
I hope you can appreciate the legal reasons behind not
providing this info any longer to just anyone who asks
for general consumption. By doing it this way, I'll
get a record of payment and a name/email address as
a stop gap to help prevent any unauthorized disabling of
your system or anyone elses, by a would be car thief!
Please go to the WIREWERX so I can get you the
info you require to fix your situation.
Good luck with this issue.
