Auto Theft Prevention/car trouble

QuestionQUESTION: I have a 1999 Oldsmobile Bravada and it will crank but it seems to not be getting any gas and will not start. We are pretty sure that the fuel pump is fine and we just replaced the filter but it still will not start. What do i do?
ANSWER: Hey , I get this one a whole lot
(as you probably have read.)
This is the most asked question these
days and yes, there is a solution that
will not cost you an arm and a leg.
Of course, & unfortunately, yes this
vehicle has a the PASSLOCK II key
based engine disabling system that is waring out
from use over time. The troublesome device is in
ALL 98+ GM vehicles, and yours is no exception.
To get around this, you will require a
GM IB-IM-PLJX bypass module to circunvent it and
KEEP IT THAT WAY!
A bypass is required to interupt PASSLOCK for
remote start applications. It is done by
grounding the system to allow it to start,
then re establish it for security usage.
This Passlock Bypass Module is designed to provide
a proper coded pulse to open the fuel rail
passlock injector cut off circuit.
The output from an alarm/remote starter
would then shut down the pulse, once it has detected
the engine has engaged, and preserve the integrity
of the passlock system.
That is it's designed purpose.
This is a self learning, resistor sensing
and self adjusting module. Once the VATS/PASSLOCK
wires have been tapped,
you would press the program button to learn,
and it does. The car should then allow start
with any hardware store key.

QUESTION: Is there anyway for me to test and know for sure that this is my problem? Or are there any signs of this passlock system going bad?
AnswerWell, sure there is.
If the car cranks, then dies. This would be an indicator.
The word "theft" or "anti-theft" is on in the dash is also.
And in the Bravada, the fuel rail, as in all PASSLOCK, seems
to have shut down and not fuel getting to the injector
is a dead solid, #1 indicator of PASSLOCK.
I get this situation/question here about 10 times a day.
Wish there was something easier to say about it,
but it's a design flaw at GM and unfortunately,
you have it in your car. Most ALL GM cars and trucks
have the same issue. It is what it is. :>(
Sorry to be the messenger of bad news,
but I'm just that, the messenger.
Yell on them!
