Auto Theft Prevention/98 Olds will not start, anti theft system?

Question
My 98 Cutlass Olds will not start.  This is sporadic and very frustrating and no solution is in sight.  Will a remote started fix this since it seems to be caused by the anti-theft system and fuel cut-off?  If not, what else can I do? I am stranded today.  Usually waiting 20 minutes to reset will allow it to start again but today that did not work nor did any of the solutions I am finding online. I do not have a key that has a chip in it.  When I bought the car the dealer said it didn't come with one which i thought odd since it has power locks.  I called an olds dealer and he said they do not make a key fob for the 98 olds. The screwdriver to battery did not work, keeping the key in the ACC postion for 10 minutes, holding down the 1 & 4  radio buttons for 5 seconds, etc... Thanks for your help!!  Stranded in Chicago!

Answer
Hey , I get this one a whole lot
(as you probably have read.)
This is the most asked question these
days and yes, there is a solution that
will not cost you an arm and a leg.

Of course, & unfortunately, yes this
vehicle has a the PASSLOCK II key
based engine disabling system that is waring out
from use over time. The troublesome device is in
ALL 98+ GM vehicles, and yours is no exception.
To get around this, you will require a
GM IB-IM-PLJX bypass module to circunvent it and
KEEP IT THAT WAY!

A bypass is required to interupt PASSLOCK for
remote start applications. It is done by
grounding the system to allow it to start,
then re establish it for security usage.

This Passlock Bypass Module is designed to provide
a proper coded pulse to open the fuel rail
passlock injector cut off circuit.

The output from an alarm/remote starter
would then shut down the pulse, once it has detected
the engine has engaged, and preserve the integrity
of the passlock system.

That is it's designed purpose.

This is a self learning, resistor sensing
and self adjusting module. Once the VATS/PASSLOCK
wires have been tapped,
you would press the program button to learn,
and it does. The car should then allow start
with any hardware store key.

about your truck's system, and buy the
appropriate unit there.
