Auto Theft Prevention/Life Cycle of Aftermarket Car Alarm

Question
Hello!  I hope you can help me with a burning question I've had for a long time.  I have a 99 Honda Accord Coupe with a aftermarket Crimestopper Alarm I had professionally installed in 2002 when I bought the car.  My Honda dealership said that they thought the alarm was draining my batter which was preventing my car from starting and noted that the alarm "might be going bad."  PLEASE give me some idea of how long I can expect a standard Crimestopper Alarm with starter immobilizer to last.  I've not been activating it for fear the symptoms will return (car spontaneously not turning on).  Thanks!

Answer
Sounds more like an installer issue.
Maybe a bad connection or connector?
I'd give a local installer a chance at inspecting
it before pulling it out and replacing it.
Crimestoppers can last 10 to 15 years with
the proper interfacing.

Have someone go over it first would
be my suggestion here.

I hope it was helpful.
