Auto Theft Prevention/my car won't start
Expert: INSTALLSUPPORT - 5/28/2008
QuestionQUESTION: I stopped to check the mail yesterday and my car alarm started chirping and freaking out on me when I attempted to restart my car, then the entire car was dead. All I can hear is clicking noises throughout my car, and the alarm goes off every time you try to start it or shut the door. Could this be the kill switch causing this? If so, how can I rip it out of there!!! Please help!!!
ANSWER: Alrighty,
You'll need to set off the alarm for a few seconds.
Then, look under the dash area for a button or, a toggle
switch. When you locate it, turn on the ignition
key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.
At this point. the alarm would have reset.
If this had a starter kill relay installed,
it would now be opened, and the engine would
turn over when tried. This is override/reset.
You would repeat these steps to go back to
user mode but in your case, I'd leave it this
way until you can either get replacement
remotes (unlikely), or, replace the alarm with one
you know and understand how it operates for
the best overall experience (suggested!).
Let me know what you discover
& if you want to upgrade to a
better system.

QUESTION: Allright, I just tried what you suggested, and the car alarm went off, when I put the key in and turned it the alarm goes off, and starts chirping wildly. When I push the black button, it just continues the wild chirping. Yesterday when this happened nothing, not even the radio would work, when I went out there now the car seemed normal until i turned the key. The alarm went off and started that wild chirping. Thats when I tried what you suggested but it just kept chirping. Then when I shut the door, the alarm went off again and won't respond to my remote. (I know my neighbors love me)!! Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AnswerHmmm, sorry to hear it.
Well then, it's on to removal from
the factory wiring under the dash.
I would suggest you go to the local
Circuit City or Best Buy or any other
local installation shop for inspection/repair
or removal to solve this issue for you.
Wish I could have offered more.
Good luck with it.
