Auto Theft Prevention/2 alarms?

Question
I bought my 2002 lancer es 2 years ago.  When I bought it, they gave me only the key and I'm guessing the alarm was disabled??  Anyway, I called the dealership to ask about keyless entry and they said that I could order a remote, so I did (with programming instructions).  When I tried to jump pin 1, there was a spark, so I assumed I blew a fuse because the power locks stopped working.  Found a fuse box under the hood (didn't know about the one in the kick panel at this time), pulled what I thought was the fuse I blew, and the alarm went off, and the car wouldn't start.  Disabled the negative battery cable and called a friend.  when he got under the dash, he found out that there is an aftermarket audiovox alarm installed, which is the one that I tripped apparently.  Now we can't figure out how to get the factory keyless entry and alarm to work.  I REALLY don't want to pay the dealership prices... is there a special procedure that has to be done to bypass the aftermarket alarm?

Thanks

Answer
Ok, let's see.

To try to disarm it,
look under the dash area for a button or,
a toggle switch. When you locate it, turn on the
ignition key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.=VALET/OVERIDE

This stops the alarm except for the keyless
entry if installed. Once in Valet mode,
it will allow the car to start and operate
like there was no alarm at all.

The next step is to remove the alarm.
This might require a local technician to
identify it, and affect neccesary service for you.

Good luck with it.
