Expert: INSTALLSUPPORT - 6/1/2008

So I just ordered this Clifford Matrix 3.5 remote start system off of ebay and was trying to install it into my girlfriends 2004 Ford Explorer. It said new, but from the looks of it, it had been used or at least taken out of the box and scratched up a bit. But anyways, I was trying to test the lock and unlock with the remote, but it would never seem to find the brain. I have all the power and ground wires hooked up correctly and the antenna hooked up. Me and a buddy of mine (which are both MECP certified and have done this plenty of times before) couldn't figure out why we weren't getting a signal. Maybe the remote/brain is bad? I can get it into valet mode with the key/valet switch. So the brain seems to be somewhat working correctly. Or maybe the remote just isn't programmed for that brain? How would I reprogram it if it's a different remote than the brain originally came with? Thanks
