Question
QUESTION: I asked a question yesterday regarding my tahoe and you sent back a comment that stated "I already answered this for you once before" but did not provide a link.

I don't believe *and I know this because I've never looked into my alarm before* I've ever asked this question before however, I read your other posts and since I don't know what a "bcm" or "black wire" or "# wire"...I'm clueless. I am sorry that you thought I was someone that asked this question already before and I apologize even more for not understanding your reply of 'I've already answered this before....'.

Again, sorry I might have "copied" another post.

I'm sure you have helped many people with their alarm issues and you do this all for free, which I am sure is not easy holding down a full time job AND providing aide to those that are trying to save 200 bucks for something most people can DIY...which I'm sure you know...many here appreciate all your input...

I had hoped that I would be able to fix this on my own and save myself $$$.

thank you.

ANSWER: It was a duplicate e-mail from
ALLEXPERTS ma'am. My/they're bad.

On this truck it's got 2 different security systems,
(more if one was added after market)
and has certain fixes.
If you would, please restate the question again
and I will try to help.

QUESTION: Robert,

Thank you for your reply and the minor confusion on all parties involved in this topic.

My original message is:

"I have the above car, which was purchased through a private party who happens to be a police officer. He HAD the navigation and lowjack but removed them for his new
car.

I have an alarm remote that when I pressed the lock button/panic button 'chirps' to announce, the car is locked) however, I would like to know if this means my
alarm is still in the car? I think I have a factory alarm but I can't see it anywhere in the engine compartment.

How do I know verify that I have an alarm system installed? My dash flashes "security" whenever my car is turned off....if this helps at all

Please advise...."

Answer
Ok, the "chirp" tells me that this truck does indeed have
an after market alarm still operating.
This system can be identified by using the
FCC ID # on the back of the transmitter and going to a site
like www.remotesunlimited.com .

Once done, do a search for the company web site and see if
you can then download a copy of the user manual.

That being said, the OEM system may have been affected
when the Lojack and Nav system was removed.

As I said earlier there are 2 OEM systems in this truck.
One is a noise generating (horn honking) and
headlight flashing circuit.

The other is PASSLOCK 2, which concerns me. This one contains
a fuel rail shut off circuit, and if it's been breeched,
tampered with or, circumvented, may then start to
malfunction, and can leave you stranded.

I would have a GM service dept inspect
and then affect service/reset/repair on
your PASSLOCK to be safe.

If either of these are currently an issue, then the
visit to GM is prudent. If it's an issue
with the after market system (siren-parking
light flashing system that does the locks too)
Then discover what it is exactly you are using,
and learn the feature controls to try to trouble
shoot any eventuality.

I hope this was more helpful.
