Question
I own a 99 Malibu. Sometimes when I go to try turn on the car, it wont start and the Anti-theft light starts flashing. I have to wait 5-10 min for the light to stop flashing or to disappear before I can turn the car on. Then the car turns on like normal. I also have a problem with the light turning on while I'm driving. What do I have to do to get this fixed???

I feel your pain. Really I do!
I get this inquiry at least 4 times a day,
and of course I am ONLY THE MESSENGER here
so please blame the engineers at GM.

It is a flawed and irritating system yes.
The way around it is also posted in several places
on my sites as well. A permanant bypass is suggested.
And yes, as long as you can get the car started eventually,
you can then program the module, and bypass the passlock,
but not before.

The IB-IM-PLJX Bypass kit is going to be
needed to get around this safely. (www.PASSLOCK2.com)
It matches the resistance level in the key switch
and allows for the fuel rail to engage with any key
you choose to use. See details on the site.

I wish there was an easy way to magically get it to
work without it, but this is what we have available
short of paying GM a bunch of cash to reset
a system that will likely need it again, and again.

I'd bypass it and go from there with an after market
alarm to pick up the slack. Then no GM passlock issues to
worry bout down the line.
