My dad passed away about 6 mo. ago and left me his sweet little 95 Toyota Camry! I love the car but it has an anti-theft thing on it that is just a pain.
All I know about it is that it is called Magic Key and in order to start the car, a chip needs to be swiped over a spot under the dash and when it beeps, it's possible to start the car.
I'd like to disable it; I don't find it as necessary in small town Iowa as he did in big city CA and it is really inconvenient when I leave the car for detailing or oil changes, etc. and nobody can hit the right spot with that chip while I'm gone even when I do remember to show them where it is.
Can you give me an idea of how to disable it?

Excellent, let's extract it and
go back to pre Magic Key install.

You'll need to cut the thing out and
repair the original wiring to disable it.
Fairly easy in this car.

Have a friend, yourself, or a shop do the following:

Remove the plastic panel from under the steering column
along with the metal knee plate exposing the ignition switch
wiring harness.

On the harness you will see the Magic key is wired
to the starter wire (BLACK/white). Cut off the
Magic Key wires going to it, then re attach the
2 free ends of the starter wire together with
a yellow butt connector.

Then carefully, one by one, clip off the
rest of the smart key wiring, black taping
any left over exposed wiring, and then
pin it back up nice n neat. Pitch the Mk
& your all done.
