Auto Theft Prevention/Master Key

Question
QUESTION: My '04 Dodge Ram pickup was recently stolen. There was no evidence of forced entry and no indication of tampering with the ignition. Is there a Master Key for these trucks?

ANSWER: No ma'am.
Sounds as if it may be someone who has access
to your key. :>(

This truck would NEED the proper
key to start it. The odds are pretty high
of that being a simple random, "lucky shot"
if you are asking my opinion.

But no, no master keys.

QUESTION: Thanks for the info. So it has to have a key to start. I've heard that there are/is some sort of electronic device that could start a vehicle, is that true?

Answer
Remote starters are out there sure, but not a device like
"walk up to a car, press a series of buttons, and
off ya go!" That's more Hollywood then anything else.
"Gone in 60 seconds" is a movie.

No, I still maintain it was someone who had access
or, it was towed out.

A.
