Auto Theft Prevention/factory anti theft on 2008 ls-1 silverado

Question
I have a 2008 sliverado LS and live in Alamo, TX about 5 miles from Mexico and I am a Police officer. Right now the Ford 250 and 350 are being stolen all over the place and taken with master keys to Mexico. A friend who works in a county wide auto theft unit has told me that there are two or three auto theft rings in Mexico that have bought all three models of the 2008 Silverados (LS,LT, and LTZ) and have taken them into Mexico to reverse engineer a way to steal them. I have a friend who installs alarms and he has told me that without getting a factory alarm with some transponders or something there is no way to put a kill switch without messing up the factory anti theft system and requiring the dealership to repair the harness. What I am asking you is 1. Do you think these professional auto thiefs from Mexico will be able to figure out how to steal these trucks and how secure is the protection? 2. Do you recommend me putting in a kill switch? 3.What is needed to put in a kill switch in this truck without damaging the factory anti theft system.

Answer
Ok, the friend is mistaken. SOME 07-08 Chevy's
now come with ignitions that have NO starter wire.
Silverado's are fine. Colorado's not so much.

Starter kill can be done without damage to the PASSLOCK 2 in this
truck and add that extra "edge" to your security.

On the first question, absolutely. Chevy's are hard, but with
time, they WILL work out the bugs. A good car thief
will learn the obsticles and make a solution even if
it needs to be picked up like a tow truck at first
to have the chance to study and resolve it.
However, you can slow um down some.

2 items that will at least take them some time
to figure out are first, the repoppers I make and sell:
www.repopper.com and the Micro Lock key system (see at www.PASSLOCK2.com) which can be installed inline on
the starter wire, making the would be thief take
ALOT more time & effort trying to take it.

Your installer can put in either
of these devices in less then an hour.

Let me know if this sounds like something
you'd want to give a try.

Regards, be safe out there.
