Expert: INSTALLSUPPORT - 9/5/2008

Ok, i'm writing this for my mother, about 2 week ago, my mother lost her keys to her 99 dodge durango. However she decided to knock off the little black thing that goes around the ignition where you put your key in. She than slightly put a flat screwdriver of some sort into it and turned it, and yes it did start. So about 24 hours later the alarm went off and it wouldn' start anymore, she has the little remote that goes with it, she used that and shut off the alarm, and it started right back up again, But when you go to lock it and unlock the alarm goes off and her batteries in the remote keeps going dead. She wants to know how you would entirely disconnect the security alarm and once you do that, will the durango keep shutting down, even if the alarm system was disconnected? Please get back with me, thanks

Please tell Mom that was not cool. :>(
She may have caused damage that will require
a mechanic and new parts in there unfortunately.

Please be more descriptive if possible.

"GOING OFF?"

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.
