Expert: INSTALLSUPPORT - 9/5/2008

I've been driving the durango without any problems.  Then the other night I went to unlock the door using the programmed key and the lights on the dashboard flashed.  When I opened the door they continued to flash but I couldn't start it.  The power locks also kept clicking as long as the door remained open.  If the door is closed then there are no lights flashing and no clicking (unless I try to lock the door using the programmed buttons on the key).  The doors will no longer lock with the programmed key.  When I try to start it, the lights just flash on the inside but no noises are made to indicate that the durango is trying to start.  It is completely dead other than the lights on the dashboard.  I tried jumping it but again, no luck.  Any ideas of what to try next?

Gotcha, let's try to put it into valet/service mode,
and try to reset the alarm to default mode.

Look under the dash area for a button or, a toggle
switch. When you locate it, turn on the ignition
key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.

At this point. the alarm would have reset.
If this had a starter kill relay installed,
it would now be opened, and the engine would
turn over when tried.

You would repeat these steps to go back to
user mode to see if this was corrected.
