Question
I have a 1997 Ford Expedition. In the winter only, my theft light flashes and I can't start my car. I keep turning the key and in between when the theft light flashes the car starts if I'm lucky. This has been going on for a few years now. I took it to the dealership and they tell me nothing is wrong. Can you help me.

Answer
I appears to be a circuit going bad in the ignition.
This can cause the eventual shut down completely.

The PATS (PASSIVE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM) from Ford is
designed to read the chip in the key to start the
engine. This may be going bad so that's where I would start
my trouble shooting.

Take it to Ford and ask the service dept about
any re calls or fixes you can take advantage of,
or anything they suggest that will not cost an arm
and a leg that can be done to correct it.

That's what I know about this one. Hopefully
it was helpful.
