Auto Theft Prevention/2001 Ranger PATS bypass

Question
QUESTION: I read your answer on bypassing the PATS with the Directed 555P bypass kit but I only have one coded key and the directions that came with the kit are VERY poor.  Can I still use the bypass kit and just use the one key twice or do I have to go to Ford to get a second key made?  And does the bypass kit permanently bypass the PATS after it has been programmed even if the battery is disconnected often?

ANSWER: It's unlikely as it needs to see 2 keys to program,
but try it. Let us know if that works.

But yes, once done, the imput for the "remote starter"
should be grounded instead to get it to bypass for good.

But if the battery goes, so does the programming. :>(

QUESTION: Hmmmm well theres definitely a problem going to be forming with battery removal and the programming.  The truck is now an offroad race truck that is "street legal". I drive it on the street which is why I left the stock wiring, but with the harsh baja style off road races, Im going to be pulling the battery often to weld on the chassis, roll cage, suspension, etc.  Is there a way to permanently disarm the PATS without having to buy an expensive remote start?  A cheap remote start will work just fine, but I need to be pointed in the right direction.

Thank you for the quick response!!

Answer
No sir.
The battery is "key" here. If power is lost,
then you will have to reset/reprogram each time.

Not allot I can suggest other then a back up power
source to cover that time period that you remove
the main source.

Adding remote start does not change this.
