Auto Theft Prevention/99 Grand Cherokee lost key

Question
*** I asked Rob Painter as well ***

I've seen bits in your past answers that may fit my situation but I just want to be sure.  Here goes;

I brought my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo (6 cyl) to Liberia with me for in fall 2007 a 3 year assignment.  Last year, the "computer box" got fried somehow by the mechanics here and I ordered a brand new one from Chrystler. During the waiting period, these same mechanics lost my only key (the other was lost by the shippers out of Baltimore).

When the new computer box was installed, the aluminum spare key that I found but can't remember making would start the car and shut off a few seconds later (as I learned because I needed a chipped key).  Unfortunately, there is no Jeep dealership in Liberia that can program a blank key to my "American" Grand Cherokee; they do European diesel versions though-yippee.  All of the dealers that I contacted in the US told me that I would have to ship the car back to the states to get it programmed by them.  A guy from Ghana told me that he could fly here (I'd have to buy his plane ticket and hotel stay) and he would bring his computer to program; I suspect that might be a tall tale he's telling me.

This week, while surfing sites, I found out that I can bypass the feature that keeps shutting the car off.  I know little about cars.  I imagine I need either something that bypasses and allows me to use the lone aluminum key or something that bypasses and has some sort of remote starter (are there remote shut offs as well?--sounds stupid I know)

Anyway, that's been my predicament for the past 8 months.  Please advise.

Answer
No sorry, what I have won't do it.

This vehicle has no code memory in the computer,
matched to the keys. What I sell and know about these
is based on the premise that the OEM/FACTORY system
is in WORKING condition to be able to effectively
bypass it for remote start applications.

Yours is locked down. Nothing I can offer would change
that unfortunately.

Your best option is to locate the traveling code writer
guy, and have him guaranty he can do this before you
send for him.

Wish I had more for you.
Good luck.
