Expert: INSTALLSUPPORT - 2/21/2009

Question
I have a 2001 grand am that has a factory installed antitheft system, also because this car is financed it has a passtime also installed. Now lately, 2x in the last week the car loses power while driving on the highway and stalls. the antitheft light on the dash flashes so i wait and reset and the car starts back up. i am trying to find out why this happens after ive been driving for awhile., as it is very dangerous, also can the two systems be conflicted causing the car to stall and need to be reset. this has been going on for about a year now, but getting more frequent. I cant afford to take it to a pontiac dealer. so i was hoping you could help me. thank you sincerely, Dorothy Smith

It sounds as if the PASSLOCK is trying to engage.
The PASTIME system may have something to do with it,
or the PASSLOCK fuel injection cutoff circuit is
malfunctioning somewhere in the ignition
switch, and is faulse reporting.

My best suggestion is to have GM run a code reader
session on the car to see what it's telling them.

Hard to pin point from my vantage point,
the exact issue, but am leaning towards damaged
passlock circuit or wiring.

Let me know what they discover.
