QuestionQUESTION: I THINK IM GONNA CRY! BOUGHT A 1997 SEBRING CONVERTIBLE SALVAGED. KEY FOB WAS BEAT UP WORKED FOR A LIL' WHILE. NOW WON'T BUT THE STUPID ALARM IS NOW ARMED AND I CANT TURN IT OFF OR DRIVE MY CAR. TRIED THE KEY IN DOOR THING ITS DOES NOT WORK. I DO NOT NEED AN ALARM!! AND YES I KNOW THAT IT CAN NOT BE SPLICED AND GROUNDED TO DISARMED, 'CUZ IT A 97 CONVERTIBLE AND CHRYSLER DECIDED TO MAKE THIS CAR WITH THIS SILLY ALARM SYSTEM. NOW IM BEING TOLD TO GET AN AFTERMARKET ALARM INSTALLED OR A NEW KEY FOB BOTH THAT ARE NOT IN MY BUDGET I SAVED ALL MY MONEY FOR THE CAR! WHAT I FOUND IS THAT IN ORDER TO INSTALL THE AFTERMARKET ALARM I MUST INSTALL A BYPASS MODULE. MY MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION IS: CAN A BYPASS MODULE BE INSTALLED ALONE WITHOUT A AFTERMARKET ALARM, TO DISABLE THE FACTORY ALARM? MAKING AT A REGULAR KEY OPEN DOOR CAR NO ALARM AT ALL??? CAR ISNT WORTH STEALING!!
ANSWER: Yes but only if the keys have retained the codes,
and you have 2 of them. Otherwise, no go.
Sell the damn car. Not worth the headache! :>(

QUESTION: ok i think i lost you? lets try again! If i install a bypass module, which is suppose to disarm factory alarm in order to install an after market alarm. and my ignition key is regular with no chips or anything, could i use the bypass module and no aftermarket alarm? I know that once i install the module and aftermarket alarm i can disarm the aftermarket so how do i use the bypass and no aftermarket alarm?
AnswerYou would need to have a transponder (chip in the key) to do a "bypass module". If none exsists, it's a relayed application a technician needs to fix.
Can't be much clearer on that ma'am.
You need to get a car alarm installer in there to make the
necessary relay and resistor application so your factory alarm is
renedered inert.
Wish there were an easier/cheaper path I can offer.
