QUESTION: I have a 2004 Kia Sorento that came with auto start and theft protection (aparently not factory installed). After 60K miles the plug and socket stopped working so the only way I can start my car is with the remote start. I can either get the immobilizer fixed to work or disable it. I want to keep the auto start feature though. Can the immobilizer be disabled w/o affecting the auto start and which would be the least expensive way to go?

ANSWER: The bypass kit that was used here Ms. Karen is either
mis aligned, or is malfunctioning. The IMO5 bypasskit
is suggested here. If your remote starter is not using this module,
I'd replace what you have with it quickly.

Without inspection, I'd have to say that's where I'd start to get both the ignition key and the bypass to work together as opposed to
against the common cause, starting the engine either way.

QUESTION: The auto start and anti-theft immobilizer work together. Will this bypass kit work on any system? I would hate to purchase it and find out it doesn't work for mine.

No it works on specific makes, model & years. Yours is one of them.
And when installed, would do the immobilizer bypass, and
allow for your ignition key to be used without conflict.
