QUESTION: My after market alarm system on a 91 corvette, professionally installed by previous owner years ago stopped locking and unlocking the doors remotely.  It chirps, flashes lights and arms/dis-arms alarm fine. I found a set of the alarm system relays under the dash and replaced them but still the same. The power locks work fine using the door switches.  I also need to replace the key fob. I looked at the alarm (clear plastic box)under the dash and can't find a name???  Should I buy a new system or are these easy fixes?

ANSWER: Nah, time to update.
I believe you may have found part of the alarm
but not the main brain.

That "clear box" is likely to be the after market
shock sensor. I am guessing it to be a Viper since
they use these little clear sensors.
The brain is black and usually wire tied
up high to either side of the steering column
cavity.

The rub here is that if it's old it may have
relay failure. And if the key fob (s) are on done too,
it just makes good sense to update/upgrade at this point.
