Auto Theft Prevention/Chapman Dealer Installed Alarm

Question
I have a '97 Chevy with a Chapman alarm tied into the Chevy remote key fob. There is a way to deactivate the alarm by a sequence of actions that includes pressing a concealed button and starting the vehicle. The problem is, I can't remember the exact sequence, and since installing a new battery, the alarm has re-activated itself. Any idea what the sequence is?
Make sure you do the procedure correctly.
Might have missed a step:
PUT IGNITION KEY IN IGNITION,
KEY ON TO JUST BEFORE CRANKING THE ENGINE.
PRESS IN AND HOLD VALET SWITCH
UNTIL YOU GET A RESPONCE
FROM THE ALARM.
KEY OFF.
This should toggle the alarm in and out of
valet/override.
If toggle type switch.
KEY ON, FLIP SWITCH, KEY OFF,
START THE CAR.
