Auto Theft Prevention/03 pilot ex alarm system
Expert: INSTALLSUPPORT - 8/17/2009
QuestionHi expert(s),
I have an 03 pilot ex with an alarm system (OEM) that is triggered randomly - very annoying! I've been told that it could be a sensor, wiring, sensitivity, door latches, etc. problem. Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Also, should I have a disarm switch, and if so, how do you use it? (nothing in manual)
Thanks
Chris
AnswerWell, have you looked into the advice given?
My forte' is after market here.
But here's the thing about the issue you are having...
If you have a "disarm" switch, then it is NOT factory.
Also if it has a siren, not factory, or a remote starter,
or if it flashes the parking lights not the head lights,
it's NOT FACTORY.
My thought is if it was installed at a dealership
prior to it's sale the first time, you would consider
it "factory" car alarm.
The shock/impact sensor seems to be the likely
culprit here.
It's usually to be found under the dash area,
blinking when anything taps on the underpanel.
Locate and either unplug or turn down.
To simply disarm it, locate and use the
valet/overide switch.
To start, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.=VALET/OVERIDE
This stops the alarm except for the keyless
entry if installed. The next step is to
locate the shock sensor, unplug it, and see
if it corrects the issue. If so, leave it that way,
or turn it down (inset trim pot )counter clockwise
until happy with the sensitivity level.
But once in Valet mode, it will allow the car
to start and operate like there was no alarm at all.
Let me know how it goes.
