Expert: INSTALLSUPPORT - 8/25/2009

Question
My wife's 2002 Camry just started sounding the alarm for no apparent reason. The car still starts and she can shut the alarm off with the key fob by pressing the panic button. It's happening pretty often about every hour. She is a kindergarten teacher and it's happening on her student visits. We don't know a lot about this car as we have just gotten it from my Aunt about 6 months ago. There is a sticker in the window that says Toyota protected by VIr or VIP. I don't know if this is factory or not. Can you give me any advice?

Ok, you need to check the battery and alternator to be sure
they are up to snuff. Important because this alarm
detects spikes (up or down) in battery performance,
and reports it by honking the horn and flashing
the head lights.

Also while we are at it, replace the
transmitter battery too. Always have
a fresh set of remotes to work with.

Then if still having random trigger issues, the
next step is to locate the bad wire, or where the
spike is coming from like if something is plugged
in and continuing to drain battery power when you leave
the car can do it.
