I have a 2000 ford explorer that is having problems with the pats system. We have two keys for this vehicle and it has an aftermarket auto-start added by a qualified technician over 7 years ago. the problem is the keys only start the car sometimes.the auto-start always start the car since the correct module installed with the auto-start bypasses the security system. when using the keys, if the theft light is blinking fast, i no the car is not going to start. It turns over fine but the security system wont let it start. I know this is a problem with the PATS system. the thing is , if i remove the key between tries it will eventually start as the theft light revert to normal operation. Could this be a loose connection, or what else could cause this intermittent operation. thanks in advance

I agree with your assessment.
The bypass used may have vibrated out of place if it was a
"key in the box" type of kit.

Not unusual. I would try to reset it. (the antenna ring around the
ignition switch may have shifted for it's positioning)
Happens allot with these type of transponder bypasses. :>(

The 555 FW Bypass is suggested for a replacement here as it
catches and repositions the transponder down along
the steering column where there are no worn out ignition parts
or sensor, and makes the key switch irrelevant.

re do it for the rest of the time you own the vehicle.
