QUESTION: My theft system has been given some headache lately.  For some reason the theft system light is on all the time once I insert the key in ignition.  I am able to start my car and drive, but it's very annoying having the light on and not knowing what will eventually cause to the car.  I tried the reset procedure:  three times for 10 minutes to "on" position and twice to "off" position - didn't help.  The light is still on.  I had remote starter installed since the purchase date of the car (1998), but lately with the theft system light on it shuts down remote start in 5 seconds.
I'd appreciate the assistance.  Thank you.


ANSWER: The trouble is likely to be in the PASSLOCK bypass that
was used when the installer put in the remote starter.

I would start by removing it and getting a new one.
Take it to a car alarm tech for evaluation
and correction.

QUESTION: My wife went to the auto shop where the alarm was installed.  One of the installers disconnected the alarm from the theft system and the theft system light was still the issue and still is.  He stated that there was some problem with the car's system and not the car alarm itself.  Please advise.  Thank you.

the PASSLOCK II system in this vehicle is trying to tell
you something.

Even if it's "my security light is on". This denotes
PASSLOCK issues and if left unchecked,
will progresively get worse.

Go to another mechanic, preferrably at Chevy for evaluation
and correction.
