Auto Theft Prevention/2002 Civic alarm arming itself

Question
Hi,

Recently I got some new tires installed and when I picked up the car I noticed the alarm was malfunctioning.  It will arm and disarm correctly with the key fob, but also arms itself automatically about 20 seconds after I turn off the engine, get out and shut the door.  It does NOT lock the doors though.

The local Honda dealership (the car was not purchased there) claimed it is an aftermarket alarm, but a local car electronics guy actually opened the dash and said it is a Honda integrated alarm system installed when I bought the car brand new.

I've been told the system is integrated so that it needs some type of alarm for the keyless entry to work.  Is there a way to reset the current Honda alarm or is my only option to get another aftermarket put on?

Thanks for your help.
