Auto Theft Prevention/'02 Ram alarm goes off for no reason

Question
I have lately had a problem with the theft alarm on my '02 Ram 1500 truck
going off for no obvious reason.  The horn blows and lights flash.  It is
equipped with a factory anti-theft system to which I added a factory (Daimler
product) add-on shock sensor shortly after purchase.  No problems until the
last few months.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Answer
Ok, turn off the shock sensor for 24 hours to test
the theory that the shock sensor is the cause.

If not, this intermitency sounds like the Battery
is bad, or is going that way.
Hard to say from my vantage
point but "FACTORY" alarms detect battery drain
to trigger.

If your battery is fluxuating, this can
cause spikes, that the alarm reads & triggers
from. I'd have this looked at first.

If it's after market, the alarm
would be a siren and flashing hazards.

So I'd look at the battery after
removing the shock from the equation
when looking for a cause.

Good luck.
