Auto Theft Prevention/Vehicle Theft - Home Invasion Robbery

Question

Chain Reaction DNA
The majority of residential burglaries committed in the United Kingdom are through an external door and sometimes thieves resort to far more extreme methods to steal property without the house alarm being activated or to gain access to vehicle keys so to start without the alarm, immobilizer and tracking system being activated. These crimes are known as aggravated burglaries here in the United Kingdom and home invasions or forced entries in other parts of the world.

Put simply, once a home owner has gone to receive a caller at the door and opens the entrance, the caller uses force to gain unlawful entry. Alternatively criminals may force illegal entry through a locked door.

StranDNA (UK) Limited has the solution to the growth in this type of crime and we are bringing to market a totally new and innovative access control device which utilizes DNA technology. Given the name “Chain Reaction DNA™” this unique security product has been developed here in the United Kingdom over a two year period aided by ERA Security Products.

We knew that the certainty of being sprayed with traceable DNA would be seen by today’s villains as the ultimate deterrent and we incorporated this new technology into our solution.

“Chain Reaction DNA™” is specifically designed to ease the fear associated with doorstep crimes. It assists the Police in the detection and apprehension of intruders by using the latest in DNA trace technology and provides law enforcement with irrefutable scientific evidence.

Installed unobtrusively to the inside of the door, Chain Reaction™ DNA provides extra resistance to forced entry and a very high decibel, thief-disorienting alarm is triggered automatically should the door be forced open.  And, in doing so, the intruder will be sprayed with a unique DNA trace which is registered at point of installation and synonymous to the address it has been installed, this allows Police to connect the perpetrator directly to the crime scene and can be used as forensic evidence in a court of law.

At the point of installation a registered or MLA approved installer will take the unique DNA trace code supplied and contact StranDNA who will register that code relating it to a specific residential address. StranDNA have utilized the services of RETAINAGROUP. Retainagroup is a member of the BSIA, accredited to ISO 9001 – 2008 , Thatcham TQA and LPS 1224 & 1225, licensed by ACPO CPI Ltd, as providing products and services meeting Police Preferred Specification and partnered with the Home Office in the “Crime – Let’s Bring It Down” campaign.  They are also members of the SMMT.

There are in excess of one billion codes and NO two canisters are ever the same!

Warning stickers supplied and installed at the front and back of the protected property will discourage illegal attempts at entry. If the warning is not heeded culminating in the activation of a device and an arrest is made, a forensic science laboratory is able to analyze the stain and can detect the DNA component present. This can then be identified in the RETAINAGROUP database which includes the location where the associated security device was installed and registered, clearly placing the individual as perpetrator or as being directly associated with a specific crime.

To avoid mistaken activation of the mechanism, a definite illegal action is required. For example an individual aggressively attempting to force entry will provide sufficient force to fire the mechanism. A high decibel alarm sounds and at the same time a DNA trace liquid is expelled. This is a clear non-toxic substance, only visible under ultra-violet light and possessing a unique DNA code. It can remain on clothes, skin or hair for month’s dependant on exfoliation and washing frequency.

Police can readily identify the presence of the substance in “Black Suites” using UV lighting situated in custody suites, or by the use of hand-held UV Black Lights.

We believe “Chain Reaction DNA™” eases the fear associated with doorstep crimes which are unfortunately occurring more often. We will be giving the homeowner greater piece of mind when answering a call at a residential entrance.  They will be confident that any attempt by the caller to gain unlawful entry will be met with a hi-tech proactive response. The strong evidential nature of this security system will reduce illegal intrusion and increase detection rates.

We also believe the application of this device can work two fold. From a homeowners perspective it eases the fear associated with doorstep crime but at the same time it will increase the fear of the individuals who perpetrate such criminal offences of getting caught and convicted.

Answer
Hello,

Sounds interesting, however I am a firm advocate of not putting any type of warning of any type of security for a whole multitude of reasons. If so equipped, there are just ways a bad guy will go around the obvious.

This site is not for self-promotion of security products.

It also sounds that you in the UK are more dependent on law enforcement which is reactive instead of pro-active.

To highlight this point, I am obviously from the USA and more specifically Texas. Our police departments are far too overburdened with Domestic Violence and other baby sitting duties involving people. Property crimes take a serious back seat to everything else. As I said, I am in Texas and many of our states allow the same practices, in which we are allowed to protect property and our own personal being, unlike the UK and much of the world.

you come into my door way (in fact if you are illegally on my property after sunset), the only police intervention is the coroner report, because that person(s) no longer breathe air. Someone rushes my door way, if the 4 dogs don't get them first, my .45 or .41 mag will-depending on what I am carrying that day.

See, in my opinion, this is the problem with the UK, Australia, Canada and other countries in which law abiding citizens have to live in fear and are totally dependent on an overburdened law enforcement system.

How will your system stand up when some bad guy who has an illegal weapon (gun, knife, brick etc.) work when some mope comes up to me at an intersection in which I am stopped with my car, who demands my car, my keys, my money? It won't! All I can hope is that I am going to shoot him before he shoots me. What am I going to do? Call 911 (emergency police in the US on my phone) and wait an hour for the cops?

Been there--have been robbed 4 times in my life. Anyone want to try for 5?

Let's use the example of your product in the US, assuming our cops would even have the time and resources to track down a bad guy that had this DNA spray as you call it.
We have our court system and I will give you a personal example:

A potential customer at our business, in which we had his name address etc. pulled a gun on me and pointed it at my stomach. (not a legal gun)and he threatened to kill me for $25 US. Wife called 911 "man with a gun!" in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a city of about 700,000 people. Police station six blocks away. Cops showed up 20 minutes later, with the officer supposedly kidding, they wanted everything over before they got there.
2 years later, I was summoned to court, but they were pushing this as a petty crime and not a major crime. To the court, for it to be serious, he would have had to pull the trigger!

I refused to go to court to testify on only a petty crime and the cops were going to arrest me for not going to court! To add insult to injury, even though this guy was a career criminal and had threatened 3 other people at 3 different times, he ended up with 20 days in jail!

I have been stabbed, I have been in life threatening positions and I have no confidence in any police department.

I am sure I have not helped endorse a product like yours. For every product that protects only one thing, there is always a way to go around it.

For auto security, you in the UK have a standard known as Thatchem, from a facility that evaluates products that have a 300 second minimum to defeat such security for the vehicle to be insurable.
One of these anti-theft transponder systems was approved from a vehicle manufacturer because Thatchem used every idea they could think of to defeat it. The system was approved. Yet, thinking out of the box in the US, like a thief would do, not a locksmith, not some thief that got caught, I defeated the same system in the US just by studying wiring diagrams. Time for defeat of this great transponder system with just the use of one wire-1 minute!
Yet, the manufacturer stated with this system, the vehicle was virtually "unstealable." They were wrong!
The point being is that you state door entry is the most common. If I were the bad guy and observed the warning sticker, it would just mean I would need to use some other way to get what I want.

In the US, we had that over priced piece of garbage known at the Club. This attached to the steering wheel with the idea the thief could not turn the steering wheel with it locked on the wheel. All the thief did was carry another tool. A hack saw blade! he steering wheel was cut in seconds and the club was removed and now could be used against the owner of the car!

Look, it appears you are trying to use this site to promote your product and all I am saying is that bad guys are not always as dumb as they are portrayed to be.
in the US jail system and I am sure it is the same across the world, these serve as schools, how to run with cuffs on, how to steal cars and how to go around security products. One can never underestimate bad people.

Now that you have advertised your product for the world to see, I am sure there are those already thinking about how they would go around it and trust me, I already have some thoughts.

As I said though, with about 48 states of the US issuing concealed carry permits (hand guns), many of us do not worry about car jacking, unauthorized front door entry or any other personal crime and if anyone is like me, I have no fear! I use restraint where I can, but when there is no choice, if its me or the bad guy, I would rather I live and not the bad guy!

I find one of your sentences interesting. "For example an individual aggressively attempting to force entry will provide sufficient force to fire the mechanism."

The same holds true for my product made by the Samuel Colt company. 255 grains of power! LOL

"From a homeowners perspective it eases the fear associated with doorstep crime but at the same time it will increase the fear of the individuals who perpetrate such criminal offences of getting caught and convicted."

This statement is in my opinion totally assumptive on your part and does not take into consideration on major worldly factor and that would be sociopaths or drug addicts that just don't plain give a crap! It is net opinion on your part to assume that a person would be afraid of being caught or convicted of door step crime.

That is like a cop (badge makes most cops apparently experts on every subject)saying a thief has to be dumb. What about all the crimes they don't solve? If a thief was that dumb, then there would be a 100% conviction rate around the world.

That is like a cop saying a specific car would not have been stolen for parts, because the parts the cop would have expected to have found missing were still there. Unless one is a mind reader on each individual, one does not know what instills fear into that specific thief or the motivation behind it.

I just find the statements absolute in a world in which there are no absolutes.

I realize you were trying to promote your product from the UK internationally, but here in the US, especially Texas, we try not to rely on police intervention and rarely do we have too. The bad guys no there is no tolerance for door step crimes, robberies, burglaries, car jackings and any other type of personal crime. They have the right to be dead and not to over burden our prison system. In the event the criminal did go to the prison system for murder or some other serious crime, he/she has the opportunity to be executed by the State of Texas!

Did you know, when Florida first came out with concealed carry licenses 20 years ago, the detractors claimed gun crime would be rampant! In reality, gun crimes went down, as did home invasions, car jackings, robberies, burglaries. The best deterrent was that no one knew who was carrying. Bad guys did not want to take the chance anymore!

Now, that is something that will instill fear into the criminal making them think twice about committing personal crimes!

Evidently in the UK and other countries, crime is a cash cow. Endless investigations, perpetual criminals.

God Bless the Republic of Texas and the USA
