Auto Theft Prevention/2007 Chevy Silverado Anti Theft Systems
Expert: INSTALLSUPPORT - 6/18/2011
QuestionQUESTION: Is there a way to override or remove the Anti Theft Detection systems? Truck will Not start, tried removing battery cables, been to the dealership where they reprogramed the computer and that worked for 1 day. Now, here we are again with no vehicle. Is there anything that can be done without it going into the shop for countless days and missing work?
ANSWER: This is the newer version of the the PASSLOCK 2 system.
Both new and old were badly designed however.
And GM will not recall it.
But they certainly know more then I do about it since
they have the only computers that can read the codes.
And they're ultimate cost to fix this is cost prohibitive
to most.
The trouble with trying to "fix" the system so it goes away,
is that it's not just one componant. It's a combination
of switches that control certain security items like the
ignition fuel rail injection system. Because of it's design,
bypassing is is contingent on the fact that there is zero damage
and it is in working condition when trying to do the bypass work.
If the BCM (body Control Module)
is damaged, nothing you do will solve this short of replacing it.
That's expensive. Trade in the vehicle.
However, if it's an ignition problem, I may be able to
help you there if the car starts and runs most of the time.
No Guaranties, but if the right criteria is met,
this can be "fixed" so the PASSLOCK system is offline
and the ignition switch would be irrelevent to the security
in this vehicle.
From my perspective as a car alarm/remote starter techncian,
I have to get around these OEM systems to do the installation.
We use bypass modules to allow this to happen, or a relay application.
Relay applications are not always the best way but in this
case, probably would not apply. You need RPM rate to program
any bypass module.
The module for this one is called the PKUMUX (99.95)
but is used to assist a remote starter to start the
engine by turning off the PASSLOCK system for the cycle
of the remote start. This can be rigged to do that permanently,
but again, the trick is you have to have the engine be able
to start to program it correctly.
Once installed it would eliminate the PASSLOCK system.
It would always believe it was disarmed.
If you can meet the criteria and want to give it a try,
it certainly would be allot cheaper the the GM solution.
Need A PKUMUX Bypass Module?

I hope this helped, and I wish you
much luck with the dealer. :>(

QUESTION: Several people have said to cut a wire..there is a orange and 2 white wires under the steering colum? Will this work if done correctly?
AnswerHighly unlikely.
I do understand that you want to try anything cheap and
easy, however, it's a GM security system and that dog
won't hunt. No can do.
(And I'd bet real money that GM would have alread done that if
it were at all possible to do so.)
But never let it be said I know it all!
It's your time and money so seek out
the options for sure.
If wanting to persue this "fix", I'd ask those people who
advised you to explain to you what to do and try it.
Then let me know. I'll tell everyone! lol.
