Question
I have a 99 cherokee with a 6 cylinder automatic. Vehicle was parked for some time and now when I try to start it, jeep will run for approx 3 seconds than quit. Also the dash gauges are not functioning. When it starts for 2 or 3 seconds it runs very rough and stumbly. I have been told by several people that this is the security system at work. When we tried to start it after being parked we had to boost it and thats when the fun started. We have had alot of people poke their heads under the bonnet but no one seems to know a definitive answer. If it any help there is a light on the dash, a key with a line through it that is staying lite that would seem to indicate the alarm was tripped at some point, but now why won't it run. Can it be disabled permanently? Thanks.
