Question
QUESTION: I disconnected the battery and have not been able to get the alarm reset. I have removed the relay to keep it from going off. How can I reset the alarm? When I put the relay in it just goes off. Please advise. If I put the relay in how long will the horn beep before stopping and can I try then to lock and unlock the doors or turning the key to on and waiting 10 minutes

ANSWER: Please be more descriptive if possible.

"GOING OFF?"

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: Horn is beeping and radio and clock flash  I can hear a clicking sound ( sounds like a turn signal)  red light on dash flashing  I think it is aftermarket. Thanks

Answer
I think so too.
Ok, an installer would place the velet switch in a semi
hidden area. I'd look under the dash area
for a button or, a toggle switch. When you locate it,
turn on the ignition key, press and hold in the
button (little spring loaded micro button, red or
black possibly), until the alarm chirps 1 time.
This should over ride the system, and only the
keyless entry part, if installed, would still be
operating.

The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.=VALET/OVERIDE

This stops the alarm except for the keyless
entry if installed. Once in Valet mode,
it will allow the car to start and operate
like there was no alarm at all.

The next step is if wanting to remove it,
you contact a local technician to
locate it, and affect neccesary service
for you.

The next option is the GM PASSKEY III system
in the Venture Vans. This would require a bypass kit
but the vehicle MUST already start, and you will need
the 2 original ignition keys to program it.

But as I said, I agree with you on it being after market.

Try the first part and let me know if sucessful.
