Expert: INSTALLSUPPORT - 8/30/2011
QuestionQUESTION: My anti-theft will not stop working it keeps on locking the doors and sounding the horn. My husband had to unhook the battery for it to stop we did have a battery put in but was used. Can you help in this matter. Thanks Mary
ANSWER: Make, model & year of the vehicle?
Please be more descriptive if possible.
I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.
Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY
Or,
is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET
Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: Robert it is a 2000 Nissan froniter crew cap it started awhile back when the car decided to honk and we had to take the plug for it to stop took to mechanic and he replaced the battery with a used one. Didn't do for a while and than started up again. Today the horn was going off and the truck locked it's self it stopped for a little and than my husband had to unhook the battery for it to stop he than went and put back battery and started car to see if it would do it again and it didn't. We I went to get ready for work and was driving the truck horn made a small beep with a few seconds in between and than the fourways came so I had to turn back around and park it. Any way when we would start truck it did nothing until you took the key out and that is when the doors would lock. I am confused as to why it does this. The first time it happened it caused the battery to die several times. The light in the truck stays on all the time and I think the anti-theft is factory.
AnswerHave this inspected for a bad ground or, the OEM system needs to be repaired.
If this was an aftermarket alarm with siren, I would be able to advise
on it's repair/restoration or removal. Since it's OEM, the best thing
to do here is to have NISSAN do a Tech2 diagnostic to determine the fault.
Let me know what the discover.
