Question
QUESTION: I have a HD 3/4 ton chevy truck. Times I get in and it tried to start and won't. I have to take the key out, open and shut the door again, wait a few minutes and then open and shut the door again and start it. It starts most of the time. This doesn't happen all the time. Also it has died while I was going 70 miles and hour, at night on our farm road and I have to go through the same process again. I've taken it in and they said, they can't do anything unless it does it while they have it. So why didn't they just disable the security system. I'm taking it back this morning and telling them to disable it. I'm hoping they will so I can drive the truck again.
Can you give me any advice? Thank you, Gail

ANSWER: First off, what year is this vehicle?

The second is that a car alarm WILL NOT
engage while driving. I think your trouble
may be computer related, or the fuel injection system
is fouled somehow, but again, not a/the security
system.

I'd have them evaluate the fuel and charging system
before anything else here. Take it back and
have them look into this area.

Let me know what they discover.

QUESTION: It's a 2001.

Answer
Then you appear to be having problems
with the passlock II system in this truck.
It is malfunctioning and is affecting
the fuel injection rail system.

Believe me, GM's service department
is NOT interested in helping you fix
this system so that it stops it from
working. They're position is to repair or
replace it. NOT to stop it.

There's no money in that!

That my friend is too damn bad for GM.

The fix is a bypass normally used to allow
a remote starter to operate, but in your case
a solid hassis grounding of the input wire
for this module once installed, would
terminate the PASSLOCK all together.

The PLJX GM PASSLOCK Bypass module is intended to
momentarilly circumvent the PASSLOCK
system in your vehicle.

This keeps the PASSLOCK system from arming again
until ungrounded.

We do suggest you take this into a
good car alarm installer if unsure
of your skills, but it will solve the
problems your are experiencing.

To buy it now, copy cut n paste the
following link and it will be shipped
out priority US Mail within 24 hours.
