Hello!
We have a '93 Lincoln Mark VIII, and the alarm (horn/headlights flashing) goes off mysteriously for no apparent reason.  It is factory installed.  The dealer said it cannot be permanently disconnected - we have to disconnect the battery and leave it like that for five minutes to "reset."  However, this does not solve the problem, as the alarm goes off without any warning.  It does not happen daily, but enough that our condo neighbors are not too happy.  Is there any way to permanently disable this?  At over 150K plus, if it were stolen....oh, well.  ANY help would be soooo appreciated.

Cool, well Ford being Ford has a "better idea"
for you instead of addressing this issue
like they should have.

Normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it. If yours is malfunctioning,
you can disable it for good by doing the following:

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
dk. green/purple |-|, located
in the drivers kick panel area or,
at the Ford Factory security module
located behind right side of dash,
near right kick panel.

Once located, splice into this wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the alarm functions entirely.

However, at this point, this car would be exceedingly
easy to steel, so I suggest you get an aftermarket
alarm system to protect it from here on in.

Once complete, go explain to the "dealership"
that you will be shopping elsewhere when the time
comes for your new car, and thanks for nothing.
