Auto Theft Prevention/Inexplicably Triggered '97 Buick Le Sabre Car Alarm
Expert: INSTALLSUPPORT - 8/31/2007
QuestionI'm the original owner of a '97 Buick Le Sabre. About three to four (3-4) weeks ago, the car alarm (which was originally installed with the vehicle by GM) began being activated for no apparent reason. Several times it has come on at around 3 AM. Several other times, it has come on at around 6 AM. At least one its come on at another time (I can't remember when). The rest of the time, it functions normally -- it isn't triggered by, seemingly, nothing.
I've lived at my current location for about two (2) years -- It is a very safe neighborhood (No car vandalism/break-in incidents that I'm aware of). I live within 10 miles of a major airport -- but at least 3 miles north of its flight path.
The delivery of my newspapers -- which occurs in the early morning -- doesn't seem to be the cause of the alarm triggers. I've dropped one my papers on the hood of the car. The vibration didn't trigger the alarm. Working the door handles when the vehicle is locked and the alarm is (supposedly) engaged also had no effect. Nor did rocking the car.
One of my neighbors (who is likewise disturbed by this situation) told me that she did not observe anything that might have triggered such my alarm. Nor, or course, have I.
Questions:
1. What could be the cause of this situation?
2. How can I (perhaps) resolve it?
Any input that your expertise and experience allows you to offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
John
AnswerSorry, but more input is required to give you
a good answer for this issue.
Also, is it a siren and flashing parking lights,
and an LED flashing in the dash when the alarm
"goes off"?
or,
Is it the headlights flashing, a worded "security"
or "anti-theft" blinking light in the dash cluster,
and the car's own horn honking?
This info helps me determine what alarm system
(after market or OEM-factory) that you are dealing
with.
Let me know and I will see if I can help you.
