Auto Theft Prevention/Ultra Car Alarm/Remote Start Issue?
Expert: INSTALLSUPPORT - 11/18/2007
QuestionQUESTION: Hi, My Ultra car alarm/remote start on my 1996 honda will randomly go off every hour on the hour. We installed it 2 years ago roughly. Do you know how I could change the sensitivity or where the sensors are? And if I can't fix it do you know if I could just unhook the alarm part and still use the remote start for winter?
Thanks for your help, Chris
ANSWER: You alarmis a combo unit. All work, not just parts.
The shock/impact sensor on these systems is built into the brain box, so you would need to get in there, and turn it
down or off manually. There is a blue knob on the brain to
turn counter clockwise.
There is also a valet/overide switch installed somewhere
to take out the alarm functions and allow ONLY for
the keyless entry to work. The remote start will
not function in this mode however.
I suggest getting the manual for your system at
www.ultrastarters.com and see if you can help
yourself get out of this situation.
Could be usefull.
Good luck.

QUESTION: Hey thanks for the quick reply. I looked at the manuel and it says I can set the alarm to passive or Active arm? Does that mean if I set it to passive the alarm will be off? I copied what it say of how to get into program mode and then how to do the passive/arm setting.
Enter Programming:
1. Make sure ignition is in the OFF position.
2. Turn the ignition key ON - leaving key in the ON position.
3. Press the transmitter button in the appropriate sequence. The parking
lights and the horn (optional) will flash the appropriate option.
NOTE: After ten seconds the system will automatically exit
Program Mode:
Setting 1 - Passive/Active Arm
1. Passive Arm 1 Flash/Honk The starter disable relay will activate 30 seconds after the ignition is “OFF”.
*2. Active Arm 2 Flashes/Honks The starter disable relay when LOCK is pressed.
1. Turn the ignition key to the “ON” position.
2. Within 10 seconds, press and release the remote transmitter buttons:
LOCK, UNLOCK, LOCK, UNLOCK.
I appreciate your help. I actually don't mind it going off it just my neighbors who are complaining. So I figured I'd be a good neighbor and fix it thanks to you!

AnswerThe toggling between "passive=arms itself 30 seconds
after the last door closes" or "active= you must arm it
yoursef", means just that. It would not correct the
issue you were talking about initially.
Look up shock/impact sensor settings for your
soultion to the neighbors complaints.
