Question
QUESTION: bought explorer(mistake)from impound lot, turns out someone attempted to steal it @ one time.Had to do alot of work to get it running, and ,a locksmith to come out and cut ignition key.the mechanic had it running, drove it home 20 mi. Now,the alarm (factory),goes off, can't shut it off, bought a key fob yesterday, but no way to get it to dealership, unless we put more money out for towing..one big 4 mo. nightmare. Is there a way to disconnect the alarm all together? We tried what the parts saleman suggested, which was turn key to on/off over and over until locks go up and down, but after 25 x,they didn't.Do you think we should pay to have towed now that we have fob,or do you have an idea? ANY help would be so appreciated!!!
Thank you,
Connie

ANSWER: FORD FACTORY ALARM DISARM SOLUTION

There are a couple of ways to look at this issue.
If it's the OEM FACTORY alarm (ie; horn honk, headlights),
then the FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE is a dark
green/purple wire |-|, Located in the drivers kick panel
area coming out of the door.

Once Located, splice into the wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the alarm functions entirely.

However, at this point, this car would be exceedingly
easy to steel, so I suggest you get an aftermarket
alarm system to protect it from here on in.

Speaking about that probability,
your 2nd option is...

If this IS an aftermarket alarm we are dealing with,
(parking lights flash, siren and an LED
blinking light in the dash), then try this....

...Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, locate, press and hold in the
valet/overide button, usually found under the
dash area to the left of the knee,
(push button, spring loaded)
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes on solid,
and the siren chirps once.

(Your valet switch might be the toggle
(on/off) type. in this case, key on,
flip switch in opposite direction,
then turn the key off.)

This should reset the alarm, and reset
the grounded relay on the starter wire,
allowing you to start the engine.

At this point, the only thing working would
be the keyless entry from the alarm,
if it came equipped that way.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to usable armed mode.
You may get 2 chirps, confirming it,
and the lights may flash twice as well.

That should do it.
If you want to remove it at this point,
take it to your neighborhood installer
for this, or buy the wiring chart
(Go to: www.vehiclewires.com)
for the vehicle, and reverse engineer it wire
by wire, until safely removed.

Let me know what happens.

QUESTION: looked today, and now I am not sure if someone has already been tampering with this in the past. There are 4 green(not dark though( and purple wires grouped together and there is black elec. tape on hem. There is another, same color tha isn't taped up with them.
Dont suppose I could take a few pic. and somehow email hem to you?

Answer
You could send them to installsupport@gmail.com if you
like, but be logical here. If you could turn
off the factory alarm by using the key in the drivers
door, you can also deduce that this
wire is coming into the cab, through the rubber gromet
in the door jamb, then to the security module.
You need to locate the specified wire
at the wire pack coming in, or in the passenger
side kick as well.

But sure, send along the pics if you like.
