Question
my 1998 ford explorer has an alarm system that is only disengaged by the remote. the remote has quit working. is there a way to start the vehicle by bypassing the alarm system?

Answer
Some 98 Explorer's, yours for instance,
have the Ford PATS system, and can be bypassed
using the KXO4 PKFORD module. If the starter
can not engage, this may be your issue, and the module
suggested would be used to get around it. (74.95

If it's the noise generator/headlight flashing
system, then try to do a ground out disarming
on the dark green/purple wire in the harness
coming from the door jamb into the vehicle.

Once you ground this wire to the body,
it terminates the OEM factory "alarm"
system.

I hope it's the latter.
The fisrt option is involved, and
may or may not work if the system is
currently malfunctioning.

I hope this helps.
