i have a 1999 ford focus and have miss placed the keys and am being told i need to get my car to the garage, but before that i need to pay some one else to come out and open the car for me, is there any way i can do this myself, as they want more money than the garage do to fix it, any help would be very grateful
Nope. This is the Ford PATS system, and
there is not an easy, or owner doable way to
do this. Ford needs to go by the VIN# and
reprogram new keys to the transponder/immobilizer
in the ignition column.
You can get a locksmith to break in of course,
but unless you have a spare key, then I am afraid
you're going to have to spend the money to get
all of this done.
Not always the answer you want to hear here,
but it is the truth.
