I just had Best Buy put a Sony car stereo in my wife's '96 Camry. The next day,
her remote starter didn't work. It cranks for a second, then nothing. The
remote starter does work with the key in the on position, but little good that
does. They said with her remote starter being older and not having the DEI
technology, they couldn't troubleshoot it. It seems too much of a coincidence
that this happened. One guy said "maybe they used the auxiliary wire for the
bypass" or something like that but after they checked it, said that wasn't the
case. They also said they didn't touch anything that had to do with the remote
starter. Any thoughts? Thanks!

"Cranks for a second" means 1 or 3 things:

The starter wire was removed (doubtful, it cranks!)
The ignition wire is not firmly connected (possible)
There is a fuse inline on a power lead
they used that blew and they can't locate it. (probable)
I'd take it to another shop for insection, resetting, and repair,
then return to the manager  at CC
with the bill and have them deal with it.
Worth a shot if
you're loud & cranky in they're face
about it in public at Christmas time!

and they did cause this, they should repair it.
