Question
Hi I'm am an 18 year aspiring body man and this is my first "Major" repair. I have an 1994 Chevy Silverado 1500 and both cab corners are absolutely shot. So i went to my body shop jobber and ordered the corners and i have a welder but I'm not positive on to put them on the right way because I'm repainting the truck afterwards and i completely redoing everything from body work to the final buff.
Thanks Robert

Answer
Hello Bob! Year One, the restoration parts people, have a book called how to restore your chevy truck in their literature section. It will have detailed instructions on how to do everything from replacing the cab corners to how to paint your truck. I can't teach you how to restore a truck in an e-mail. Replacing the corners means cutting out the rusty metal, then overlapping the new panel over the old one a half inch. Only use as much of the new panel as you need, don't get carried away and put in an extended cab corner if you don't need it. Pull the interior panels out of the rear of the cab, there is lots of flammable foam and caulking back there. seam weld across the top of the patch, plug weld the patch along the bottom , the back of the cab, and where the rocker wraps into the door jamb.
