Auto body repair & detailing/1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Dash Panel

Question
I am at my wits end looking for any information (detailed instructions) on removing/replacing the dash on my 1999 Dodge Ram 1500,4 WD, 5.2 engine, automatic transmission, regular cab, pickup truck. Reason for work needed is that the original top dash panel has cracked beyond repair and has to be replaced with the OEM part. It is so far gone that putting on a glue on dash cover over the cracked panel is not an option. I have the time and patients to do the job but like to have my homework done and a pretty good idea of what is required (screws, bolts, etc. that need to be removed and where they are) to do it properly. I already have the plastic panel from the dealer. Any help or direction to detailed drawings/instructions would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
A good source for the info you are looking for can be found in a dealer service dept.Ask the service writer if he can print or photocopy the service manual instructions for you.If he\she is uncooperative another good source is to buy a service manual on e-bay for about 20 dollars. These manuals give excellent instructions for every aspect of repair for specific vehicles.Make sure you are getting a service manual and not a Haynes or Chiltons as these are not as informative, although they may have some basic guidelines for what you need. You can check with your library for these resources too.
