Auto body repair & detailing/2001 Honda Civic Driver's Side Mirror

Question
This morning I was going through the drive-through window at the pharmacy and didn't see the bright yellow pole at the window. As I pulled off, I heard a crack and my driver's side mirror pulled  off the car. Nothing on the side mirror cracked except for the plastic where the screws screw into the door. The mirror is still attached by the cables and is still operable. How costly is this to repair? Can I do it myself? Wanted to know this BEFORE I tell my husband about it. I feel so stupid.  Thanks.

Answer
Jill-
Hopefully only the mirror is damaged. These can usually be replaced inexpensively, 100-200 for the part and 40-60 for labor to install it. Sometimes damage can exist to the door itself where the mirror mounts and in this case the cost can vary greatly. Good Luck- Mark
